Sovereign God For Us and Through Us

Brethren, on June 19, 2005, I was awakened in the middle of the night; it came to me to get our book Sovereign God For Us and Through Us out freely to prisoners and others who cannot afford it. The name "Set the Captives Free Project" came to mind.  Also Isaiah 61:1,2, which was quoted by Jesus when He started His ministry, came. "He hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening [of the prison] to them that are bound; to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."

By the grace of God, through your help we will supply this powerful 328-page book, Sovereign God For Us and Through Us, freely to prison ministries and others for distribution to those who are captive to sin and its curses. This book will teach and demonstrate to them how to access the power of God through faith in His promises to be set free.

If you are a prison or jail ministry and are interested in supplying these books to them or the military, please order here.

Many Salvations Using Sovereign God Books

(Isa.61:1,2) He hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening [of the prison] to them that are bound; to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.

Chaplains Using Sovereign God Books
James Cardin - 08/26/2007

Just thought I would pass this along to all of our Prison & Jail Ministry friends. Yesterday, August 25, 2007, we commissioned 10 (new) chaplains in the New York State district. These included: Jail & Prison Ministry, Churches, Inner-City; and Biker Chaplains, just to name a few.

As part of their Commission we have established the "Sovereign God" books as accredited and for their edification as they advance into the field.

I am sure that we will hear many testimonies in the future.

Jehovah's Witness Ex-Elder Converted
Michael Hare - 12/24/2008

Just a note on one of the conversions that have occurred in the jail ministry here in Lonoke County, Arkansas. I've been ministering to a man in the Lonoke County jail who was at one time an elder in the JW. He is hungry for the truth of the Word and God is opening his eyes to see the truth from the Word. He told me last night that Sovereign God has opened up passages that he knew existed but never fully understood until he read David's simplistic explanation of them. He said that reading Sovereign God has really changed his theology totally around. I may get him to write his testimony down and send it to you all. I believe you would be blessed by it.

He is also excited about the prospect of reading Hidden Manna. I told him to read and study SG for the foundational truths he needs and that I would start giving him Hidden Manna a chapter at a time later. He has taken SG and soaked it up like a sponge.

There are many here in the jail who have not been baptized and I'm going to have to work with the Sheriff to find a way to do that for them. Many have expressed interest in being baptized in the Holy Spirit, as well. We are teaching them that it is a gift and that all they have to do is just ask God for that gift and He will faithfully give them the gift of being filled with the Holy Spirit.

The settings we have are unique, to say the least. In some cells there are as many as 25 prisoners and maybe five or six will be in the study. The others are at times very distracting with the TV blaring and loud obnoxious talk.

Even with all that it is still a blessing to watch the light come on in these men's lives as the truth opens their spiritual eyes.

Had a man (new one in the study) who just sat enthralled at the truth that he was hearing last night. He asked simple, pertinent questions that just literally paved the way for his total transformation to the truth of God's Word. I wish all could see the transformation taking place in these men's lives. It's wonderful.

Revived Son in Jail, Handing Out Sovereign God
Linda

Thank you for the two books you had sent to my son in jail. He called me tonight and said that several guys have gotten saved because of them and he wants to know if I can get him any more. Is that possible? Could you send him five? I'm not sure how the jail system works but he said, "Mom, send me as many as you can...all these guys are wanting them..." He's going to give his to a guy who is getting out in a day or so! Praise God. This is so awesome. My son does not like to read and he has been reading this and the Bible constantly since being there. He was so excited tonight when he called me.

If the Word Doesn't Fill the Vacuum, Islam Will
Future 'radicalized' Islamists trained in U.S. prisons
Colson says study confirms penal institutions are breeding grounds for terrorists
Posted: October 11, 2006   1:00 a.m. Eastern   © 2006 WorldNetDaily.com

Many "radicalized" Islamists capable of committing terrorist attacks in the future are acquiring their jihad beliefs and training right now, within America's state and federal prison systems, at the expense of U.S. taxpayers, a leading prison expert is warning.

"If, God forbid, an attack by home-grown Islamist radicals occurs on American soil, many, if not most, of the perpetrators will have converted to Islam while in prison," said Chuck Colson, head of the Prison Fellowship ministry as well as author of BreakPoint commentaries.

">He said in a recent commentary over his years of serving the needs of inmates that he's seen, like others in the prison system, many instances of "the spread of an especially virulent form of Islam within American prisons." But, he said, thanks to a new report, ignoring that factor "is no longer an option."

He cited a study called "Out of the Shadows" by researchers at George Washington University and the University of Virginia that concluded "radicalized prisoners" in U.S. prisons "are a potential pool of recruits by terrorist groups."

Which means that if and when there is another terror attack within the United States, the perpetrators may not have learned their skills and hatred in Iran or Saudi Arabia, but in Colorado or California.

The study notes that the circumstances for many inmates can produce bitterness and resentment already. Into that atmosphere comes material distributed by extreme Islamic groups that advocate murder and mayhem on nonbelievers.

The study notes there is virtually no monitoring by "authoritative Islamic chaplains" who should be responsible to see that materials calling for violence are not permitted.

The information that now appears calls on Muslim prisoners "to wage war against non-Muslims who have not submitted to Islamic rule," the study said.

"As a former employee of a radical Islamist group who is now a Christian told a Senate committee, 'I know of only a few instances in which prisons rejected the literature we attempted to distribute - and it was never because of the literature's radicalism,'" Colson wrote.

"Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine) was correct when she called the situation 'an emerging threat to our national security,'" Colson said.

Colson said the study suggests a new federal commission to investigate and produce an "objective risk assessment," and he believes we should "get on with this."

"I've been telling 'BreakPoint' listeners and readers and Prison Fellowship supporters about this for years. Now we have more than anecdotal evidence. We have a study from two prestigious universities on our side," Colson said.

The program, which now has chapters in 88 different nations, produced a 50 percent drop in recidivism in a study at one Texas location where it was operating.

However, because the voluntary program involves Christian principles, courts have ordered it out, mostly recently in a case in Iowa.

"The largely unimpeded spread of radical Islam throughout prisons coincides with increased opposition to the one really successful antidote - that is, the presence of Christianity," Colson wrote.

"Programs like ours are working. We have studies to prove it. And they are the best solution to the alienation and rage that fuels conversions to radical Islam, as well as gangs and other hate groups inside the prisons. Making it harder for organizations like Prison Fellowship to operate within prison walls leaves jihadists and other radical groups as the only game in town," he said.

He said that will, in all likelihood, allow for the development of more folks like Richard Reid, the shoe bomber, who converted to Islam in prison and tried to kill a jetliner loaded with people.

Colson's BreakPoint, heard on about 1,000 radio stations, has addressed this issue several times, including one case in 2005 when authorities in Los Angeles were able to break up a terrorist plot. Native-born Americans of non-Middle Eastern descent, from within Folsom Prison, had organized a "holy war" against America and were planning to form various terrorist cells upon release.

He said what he wrote about first in 1991 is gaining attention now from other groups as well. He noted the "Weekly Standard" has called for an understanding of the "extremist indoctrination"' going on in prisons.

Colson said one group, the al-Haramain Islamic Foundation, was shut down after it spread hate literature throughout the prison systems, but that probably was "only the tip of the iceberg of what has reached and may still be reaching U.S. prisons."

At the time the Los Angeles case was uncovered, Robert Mueller was FBI director. He told the Senate Intelligence Committee that prisons are fertile grounds for extremists who exploit inmates.

Also about that time there was a distribution from the al-Haramain Foundation of "The Noble Quran" into prisons holding about 10,000 inmates. It's a special publication of the book that calls for jihad as an "obligatory duty on every Muslim."

"Many editions of this translation that reached the prisons contained an appendix entitled 'The Call to Jihad,'" said a blog contributor. "That essay is, quite simply, an exhortation to violence."

"The Atlantic" noted that the leadership of Islam in American prisons is being provided by inmates, with many urging the outright overthrow of the U.S. government and praising extreme violence.

"Wahhabi influence is inculcating them with the same kind of militant ideas that drove the 9/11 hijackers to kill thousands of Americans," Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y.," Even the Islamic chaplain in the New York City Department of Corrections admits to the influence, and is proud of it. He was suspended, but not dismissed, from his job after he said the "greatest terrorist in the world occupy the White House" and "Zionists of the media" should not be dictating what Islam is.

The Prison Fellowship founder was known by politicians as the "hatchet man" for President Richard Nixon before his resignation from office. Colson converted to Christianity in 1973 and the Boston Globe later said, "If Mr. Colson can repent of his sins, there just has to be hope for everybody."

He served a brief time in prison starting in 1974 for Watergate-related charges and two years later founded Prison Fellowship Ministries, now the world's largest outreach to prisoners, ex-cons and crime victims and families.

Colson also has written more than a dozen books, and in 1993 earned the prestigious Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion, donating the $1 million prize to Prison Fellowship.

Before Christmas I wrote you and very quickly you sent two boxes of your Sovereign God books. Within 24 hours they were in the hands of the chaplain and on to the different housing areas of the inmates. I quickly read over one before I sent them off - I kept one for thorough reading. I have a nephew -son of missionaries - Luke is his name and he is in terrible condition due to strong drug addiction. I want to send him my copy as soon as I get his address. Thank you, ever so much, for the strong spiritual book you wrote and are giving jails and prisons. Today I was with two ladies (jail service) who are in 23-hour confinement. They are now strong believers and students of the Word. We are so grateful for our door of opportunity here in Ventura, California. I wish the general population of the "church" could SEE what God is doing in jails across America. God continue to bless your heart, mind and spirit.

Gratefully,
Judy Hansen

I received your books and was blown away. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. It was exactly as I felt -- God sent. The more I read the more I am set free. The others who are reading said the same. The Cherokee County adult detention center houses around 300 on a rotating basis as they are awaiting sentencing and return from time completed in prison. Sometimes we house up to 500 -- both men and women.

I was asked if we could get five cases. I will order more as needed. Books always disappear as inmates take them home and share.

As I leave for prayer this morning, I ask the Lord bless you and supply you with resources to help you in your ministries.

In His service,
Robert MacKenzie

Former Inmate's Wife's Back Healed
Michael Hare - 04/22/2009

Just a little update on what is happening.

One of the men to whom we have been ministering was let out of jail a couple weeks ago and he helped me on a couple jobs I had.

When we finished, we ate lunch and he asked if I would come over to his home and pray for his wife. Of course, I said sure and asked what the problem was.

She had degenerative disc problems for 20 years worth and arthritis in her back. When we got there (both are new Christians) she was sitting in the garage, waiting.

I gave a short lesson on faith and a few testimonies we have experienced and then prayed for her. I commanded her back to be healed and renewed and then asked her to do something she couldn't do before. She bent over and exclaimed that there was no pain. She did a few other back contortions and exclaimed again and again, "No pain!" She was absolutely ecstatic over the healing that God gave her. That was last Thursday and she is still healed as of today.

Just a note on her healing: The doctors had told her that they could do some kind of surgery to help alleviate the problem. The only problem was they wanted $7000 from her to do it. Jesus did it for free. Just a small amount of faith will move the largest of mountains.

Praise God! She is now believing God for healing of her knees and ankle. And He is. Thank you, Jesus!

Thanks again for the books. Many inmates are being blessed by them.

Blessings!

Update - 05/05/2009

Dear Brethren,

Just an update on the lady who was healed of a 20-year back problem. As I told you in the last correspondence, she also had problems with her knee joints and ankles. I took them with me to our Thursday night Bible study in a nearby town and God miraculously healed her.

She had a left leg that was shorter than her right leg by 2.5" to 3". We had her sit in a chair and her husband lifted up her legs so we could see the difference.

As he held them, the Lord, without anyone commanding, made the leg to grow out the same length as her right leg right before our eyes. It started coming out and stopped at the same length as her right leg. It was really easy for us to believe for her healing of the knees and ankles after that. And they were healed!

We commanded the joints to be healed and renewed and she was miraculously healed. She got up out of the chair in her bare feet and started praising the Lord. She kept saying she hadn't been able to walk in bare feet for 40 years. She walked and danced around the floor for sometime, praising God. J

God was showing the people that it is not us who heals, it is always Him. He uses our faith (even though it might be just a measure) to heal us but He gets all the glory.

Praise God for His healing power.

Today this same husband went with me to the men's homeless shelter in North Little Rock where I teach on Monday nights. After we left and drove back home, he confessed that he had failed in his attempt to quit smoking. As we pulled up in his driveway, I reached over and put my hand on his chest and commanded that demon of addiction to come out and I saw a puff of smoke leave the top of his head and he exclaimed that it was gone. Praise God!

These types of things should be an everyday occurrence in the church. And I believe they are in the True Church.

Blessings.

Sovereign God Books Being Devoured
Susan - 03/14/2011

I wanted to let you know that the prison got the case of Sovereign God books; they went out to the guys in just minutes and they are asking me for more. I told them I would ask you. They also are asking for Bibles. I don't know if UBM has any or not. The inmates who have been reading the Sovereign God book have like a glow in their eyes and they tell me they can't put it down and are going to read it over and over again. I think that's wonderful.

God Bless you and everyone at UBM.

Love from your sister Susan in New Mexico

Update - 03/24/2011

I have to tell you a Blessing God has done at the prison.

When I came back to work from my days off last week, an inmate came up to me and said, "Guess what. We had a Bible study out of the Sovereign God book." He said it was to help some of the inmates who couldn't read English and for some who didn't have a book.

Please send four more cases to me.

God is doing a great works here; it's wonderful. They can't wait to get them in Spanish.

God bless you and divine protection over all of UBM in Jesus' name.

Susan
