For Miracles, Confess God Before Men

Debbie Horton - 10/04/2013

I'm having a wonderful week!

  1. The 3rd-grader across the street, John, came over and asked me if I had any books on Native Americans because he had to do a project for school. I told him that I didn't, but that I would look for some the next time I was at the book store. Well, on Thursday, I had to go into town, so I thought that I would come back home through the shopping area and check for books, even though it was very early. Barnes and Noble opens early, but I wasn't sure when Ollie's (a liquidator) opened. I prayed on Wednesday night and asked the Lord for Ollie's to have a book on Native Americans, since they would be way cheaper than Barnes and Noble. Thursday morning, after my business in the center of town was done, I drove home the long way through town over to Ollie's, hoping that they'd be open, and they were. They opened at 9:00 a.m. and I got there a little after.

I looked through the kid's book section but didn't see anything on Native Americans, and then I spotted the lady who was in charge of the book section. I asked her, "Do you off-hand know if you have any books at all on Native Americans?" and she answered, "No, there's nothing on Native Americans. All I have are some books on the Civil War".So, thinking that one of the Civil War books might have a chapter or two that mentioned Native Americans, I went and looked at that section. And, guess what? There was an absolutely perfect book there, which was titled, The Native American Experience. It had chapters on practically every tribe in North America, too. I was just thrilled that the Lord had answered my prayer so well! I took a copy of the book over to the lady and showed it to her. She was completely surprised. "Where did you find that?" she asked me, so I showed her where the rest of the copies were and she was floored. She had no recollection of them whatsoever and she's the person who puts the books out on display!

  2. Today (Friday) I had to take the car in for an oil change and to find out what the "funny" noise was because the car was too loud. The assistant service manager, Barry, came out to me where I was waiting and went into his "bad news" spiel. He told me that the real problem with the repair was a bolt which was rusted in place. It was one of two bolts like that, but the other bolt wasn't so badly rusted. They were positive a little WD-40 would loosen it sufficiently. The really bad bolt was the trouble-maker. If it broke-off, and they were certain that's what was going to happen, and then they had to drill it out, then they risked doing damage to the engine itself. And that's the reason they wanted to show it to me, so that I wouldn't think they did the damage on purpose just to make more money.

So I told Barry, "You know what we're going to do? We're going out there and we're going to lay hands on that car and command that bolt to come out; that's what we're going to do!" He gave me that look, you know, but I started on over to the service bay and he followed me. When we got there, he told Zachary, the mechanic, that we were going to pray over the car. Then Zachary gave me that look, but I didn't wait any longer. I went over to my car, laid hands on it, and prayed for the bolt to come on out. Then I commanded it in Jesus' name.

Barry and Zachary kind of came into something that resembled agreement with me. Then I told Zachary, "You know, I already prayed last night that the Lord would bless the hands that worked on my car", and Zachary said, "Thanks! I need that." Then they showed me the bolts and they were just as bad and they told me. So I went on back to wait for my car and visit with my friend, Jan, who works at the dealership.

And a little while later, Barry told me the problem bolt came right on out! I am so elated! Do you know what kind of witness that was to all the other mechanics? Praise the Lord! He glorified His name! I live in the Bible Belt and almost everyone will tell you that they believe in God and that they're Baptists, but they're so surprised when anyone actually walks-out their faith. Well, that bolt testimony helped me a little later on with my friend, Jan.

  3. When Jan and I were talking, I found out that she hadn't made a car sale in several months and was behind on her bills, including rent. She told me, "But the electricity and water haven't been cut off yet". Now I offered to help but she refused. She said, "That's why I didn't want to tell you because I knew you'd try to help". One door closed and another opened. I saw her wallet on the the desk and asked, "Is that your wallet?" She said, "Yes". I asked her, "How do you pay your bills? Cash or check?" She replied, "When I have cash, I pay my rent in cash, but I usually pay the other bills by check or debit card."

So I told her, "We're going to lay hands on your wallet and command the money that you need to come in". She gave me that look but what could she say? The bolt came out! Easily! I put my hand on her wallet, she put her hand next to mine and I prayed for mercy. Then I commanded the money to come in and she agreed with me. The words were barely out of my mouth when a man walked in. She asked him if he needed any assistance and he said that he had read about Subarus and was looking to buy one, a Forester. Off she went with him! It will take a few days to finalize any sale but I had already told the Lord, "Father, it would be really great if Jan could sell a couple of Subarus while I'm here."

Well, I had to leave when my car was ready, but I called Jan later and she's convinced that he will be a sale for her. Then I told her that another one was also coming because I asked for a "couple".

  4. And, before I forget, Barry honored my expired coupons from another dealership, which saved me $10 on the oil change and 15% on the other work!

Be encouraged, be bold and stand no matter what you see with your lying eyes because the eyes of the flesh are our enemy!

Note from David: Pray for boldness, saints. It brings revival. {Act.4:29} And now, Lord, look upon their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants to speak thy word with all boldness, {30} while thy stretchest forth thy hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of thy holy Servant Jesus. {31} And when they had prayed, the place was shaken wherein they were gathered together; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spake the word of God with boldness. {32} And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and soul: and not one [of them] said that aught of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. {33} And with great power gave the apostles their witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

{Mat.10:32} Every one therefore who shall confess me before men, him will I also confess before my Father who is in heaven.

{1Co.2:4} And my speech and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: {5} that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. {Rom.15:18} For I will not dare to speak of any things save those which Christ wrought through me, for the obedience of the Gentiles, by word and deed, {19} in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Holy Spirit; so that from Jerusalem, and round about even unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.
